What is the medication marketed as Esidrix?
The medication with this name is made and marketed by the international company Novartis. The formula of this medication is also used by other companies that make and market drugs so if you wish to buy Esidrix cheap you should look for a generic version, i.e. made by the less known company.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a medium-acting thiazide diuretic. It diminishes the recapture of sodium ions at without affecting the area that passes in the brain layer of the kidney.
Hydrochlorothiazide suppresses carbonic anhydrase, accelerates the washing out of potassium ions, bicarbonates and phosphates in the urine.
The formulation enhances the washing out of magnesium ions, delays the excretion of urate. Hydrochlorothiazide diminishes calcium washing out with urine, minimizing the chance of the formation of kidney stones.

Recommended dosages
We assume that you buy Hydrochlorothiazide because your doctor indicated the course with the medication. In this case, you should follow his or her indications. Here you can find the general dosages which can be adjusted based on the individual features of a patient.
The doctor sets the dose of hydrochlorothiazide individually.
Pills are taken after meals.
Due to the enhanced washing out of potassium and magnesium during treatment, substitution treatment with potassium (K +<3.0 mmol / L) and magnesium may be necessary.
- With edematous syndrome, the starting dosage is 25-75 mg (based on efficacy) 1 time per day or 1 time in 2 days. The highest daily dosage is 100 mg.
- As a blood tension-lowering agent, hydrochlorothiazide is prescribed in the dose of 25-50 mg per intake in the form of single-drug therapy or with other tension-lowering medicines. Sometimes, the use the dosage of 12.5 mg is effective. If necessary, the dosage can be raised, but the highest daily dosage must not be higher 100 mg per day. The blood tension-lowering action of hydrochlorothiazide can be observed within 3-4 days, however, it may take up to one month to achieve the optimal effect. After the course discontinuation, the hypotensive effect persists for about one week.
- In premenstrual edema, the advised dosage is 25 mg per day, it is taken from the occurrence of first signs till the start of menstruation. - In diabetes insipidus, the average dosage taken in a day is 50 mg. If needed, the dose can be raised to 100 mg per day. - For the prophylaxis of the formation of calculi (stones), 50 mg two times a day are used.
- To reduce the intraocular tension in glaucoma, 25 mg once a day for 1-6 days is used. The effect occurs in 24-48 hours.
- The daily dosage for children from 2 years is 1-2 mg⁄kg of body weight. Based on the body weight for children from 2 to 12 years old - 37.5-100 mg per day either in one intake or split into intakes.
Overdose
Symptoms: dehydration, lowering of potassium, sodium manifested in thirst, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, weakness, lightheadedness, drop of arterial tension, irregular heartbeat, spasms of the calf muscles, painful r troubled urination, shock, alkalosis, and others.
The treatment implies symptomatic and maintenance therapy. The use of activated coal and vomiting are recommended to minimize excess dose absorption. In the event of dropped blood tension, the individual must be laid down with raised legs. It is necessary to compensate for the volume of fluid and normalize the electrolyte imbalance. In severe symptoms, hospitalization is required.
Adverse reactions associated with Esidrix use
- Blood and lymphatic system: leukopenia, neutropenia, hemolytic and aplastic anemia, suppression of the bone marrow, lymphadenopathy, and others.
- Immune system: allergy, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (including swelling of lips, tongue, larynx, extremities, intestinal edema).
- Metabolism disorder: hyperuricemia, which can provoke gouty attacks in individuals with asymptomatic disease, electrolyte imbalance, increased blood lipids; gout, hyperglycemia, glucosuria, impaired sugar tolerance, which can cause a manifestation of latent diabetes mellitus, hypochloremic alkalosis; increased levels of urea and creatinine, liver and bilirubin enzymes, cholesterol, triglycerides in blood plasma.
- Mental disorders: anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, confusion, disorientation, drowsiness, mood and psyche changes, nervousness.
- Nervous system: lightheadedness, headache, cramps, unusual weakness, apathy, slowing of the thinking process, fainting, asthenia.
- Organs of vision: blurred vision, conjunctivitis, and angle-closure glaucoma.
- Hearing and balance organs: vertigo, ringing in the ears.
- Heart: arrhythmias, low arterial tension, tachycardia.
- Respiratory system, chest organs: pulmonary edema.
- Digestive system: loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, thirst, stomatitis/aphthous ulcer ulcers, glossitis, change in taste, epigastric pain/spasm, pancreatitis.
- Hepatobiliary system: hepatic coma, hepatocellular or cholestatic jaundice, cholecystitis.
- Skin: rash, sensitivity to the sunlight, purpura, erythroderma, necrotic vasculitis, lupus-like skin reactions, alopecia, and others.
- Urinary system: impaired renal function, interstitial nephritis, kidney failure.
- Others: decreased potency/impotence, fever, sialadenitis.
Interactions with other medicines and substances
- The simultaneous use of the diuretic with lithium salts must be avoided as it enhances the negative effects of the later.
- It should be used cautiously with other tension-lowering formulations (their effect is potentiated, dosage lowering can be needed), cardiac glycosides (elevated toxicity of digitalis), amiodarone (its use simultaneously with diuretics can lead to raised risk of arrhythmia), hypoglycemic agents for oral administration (their effectiveness decreases, hyperglycemia may develop), corticosteroids, calcitonin (increase potassium excretion), NSAIDs (can weaken the diuretic and hypotensive effect of thiazides), non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, Amantadine (the washing out decreases and possible toxicity enhances), ethanol, barbiturates, and narcotic analgesics, which potentiate blood tension-lowering.
- Thiazides can lower plasma protein-bound iodine levels.
- Before conducting parathyroid function tests, thiazides should be discontinued. Serum bilirubin concentration may be raised. Before you buy generic Hydrochlorothiazide, make sure to consult your healthcare provider on the dosage adjustment when the medication is combined with other substances.
Precautions
- Throughout a prolonged course, monitoring of the clinical symptoms of water-electrolyte imbalance must be monitored, particularily in individuals at high risk: with diseases of the cardiovascular system and impaired liver function; in case of severe vomiting or in symptoms of electrolyte imbalance such as dry mouth, thirst, weakness, sleepiness, anxiety, muscle pain or cramps, irregular or rapid heartbeat, and others.
- In the case of severe loss of potassium (enhanced diuresis, long course) or use of digitalis glycosides or corticosteroid medicines can be avoided by the use of potassium-containing medicines or foods rich in this element (fruits, vegetables). - In reduced kidney function, creatinine clearance control is needed. In impaired kidney function, the medication can cause azotemia, and cumulative effects may also develop. If renal dysfunction is evident, oliguria should consider discontinuing the drug.
- The medications from the group are appointed in liver dysfunction or progressive liver diseases. A slight change in the water-electrolyte balance can induce hepatic coma.
- In case of severe cerebral and coronary sclerosis, the use of the medication requires special caution.
- The use of the medication can affect glucose tolerance so it may be necessary to change the dose of antidiabetic medicines and control the intake of carbs.
- Special monitoring is required for patients with impaired uric acid metabolism.
- Alcohol, barbiturates, narcotic analgesics enhance the orthostatic blood tension lowering.
- Thiazides can drop the amount of iodine without signs of thyroid dysfunction.
- In individuals suffering from lactose intolerance, the appearance of digestive tract complaints is possible, due to the presence of lactose in the composition of the tablets.
- In the initial stage of the use of the medication (the period is set individually) it is highly not encouraged to drive or operate any dangerous machiner.
