  Generic Medication guide:

What is the medication you can buy as Sumycin? When is it used?

The brand Sumycin is used for marketing of the worldwide well-known antibiotic Tetracycline. It is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that interferes with the formation of bond between the transport RNA and a ribosome which induces the synthesis of the protein needed for bacteria multiplication. The original formula was developed back in 1953 and started to be used for commercial production of the antibiotic in 1978. Nowadays, this antibiotic is considered one of the essential medications in a modern healthcare system. Due to its status of one of the essential medications and the fact that the exclusive patent for its production had already expired, the same formulation is available from different manufacturers and under various names. When you have to buy Sumycin, you can look for generic Sumycin or Tetracycline capsules with the same dosage of the active agent per pill as in the branded drug and save your money on the treatment. Please note that there are different dosages per capsule and to get the proper treatment in accordance to your doctor’s prescription you need to pay attention to the dosing. For instance, at this webpage we offer you to order the capsules of Tetracycline with the dosage of 250 mg and 500 mg.

Sumycin contraindications for use

The formulation is contraindicated to be used in:
- Allergy or intolerance of the drug’s components;
- Kidney failure;
- Porphyria;
- Leukopenia;
- Pregnancy,
- Breastfeeding,
- Age below eight years.

The use of the medication is not desired in liver dysfunction and myasthenia gravis.

Use of Sumycin in pregnant women

The use of the formulation in pregnant or breastfeeding women is strictly contraindicated because the tetracycline antibiotics penetrate the placenta and are accumulated in the fetal bones and dentition disrupting their mineralization which can cause severe damage to the development of the bone tissue.

Sumycin dosing

As we have already stated, the best and safe therapy can be made with the generic of Sumycin but only if the dosage and the use of the medication corresponds to the doctor’s instructions given individually for you. In this article we provide the general recommendations from the package insert for information only.
The formulation must be taken one hour before or two hours after a meal as food in general and some dairy products, in particular, can interfere with its absorption.
The daily dosage and the duration of the course are chosen by a doctor based on the dynamics and severity of the disease. It is important to continue the treatment course for three more days after the symptoms of the disease disappear. All infections caused by beta-hemolytic streptococcus must be treated for at least ten days.
The dosage for adults (including senior patients) and kids older than twelve years should take the dosage of 250 mg every six hours. In severe infections, it can be raised to 500 mg every six hours.
The maximum daily dosage for adults is 4 grams or 4000 mg.

Dosage adjustments

Elderly patients do not require dosage adjustments unless they suffer from mild kidney dysfunction. In this case, they should be given the drug under a doctor’s supervision and possibly in the lower dosages.
Patients with kidney failure are prohibited to be given tetracyclines except for the cases when the use of the medications from this class is deemed absolutely necessary. In this case, the daily dosage must be lowered either through the lowering of the single dosage or the increased intervals between the intakes.

Sumycin adverse effects

In general, the medication is well tolerated but in some cases the adverse effects listed below can develop. You should keep this in mind when you buy Tetracycline especially if you have never used it before and do not know how your body reacts to it.

Potential adverse reactions:
- Loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, pain or discomfort in the stomach, constipation, dry mouth, pain in the throat, heartburn, stomatitis, gastritis, ulcer of the stomach and the duodenum, colitis, dysbiosis, liver dysfunction.
- Dizziness, sensitivity to light, headache, shaky walk, intraocular pressure increase, temporary vision loss or hearing impairment.
- Anemia and other blood composition disorders identified through blood tests;
- Acute renal failure, vaginitis;
- Allergic reactions, skin rash, dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, skin hyperemia, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, anaphylactic shock, photosensitivity, bronchospasm.
- Vitamin deficiency, hypersensitivity, candidiasis, skin or mucosa pigmentation, itching of the genitalia and anus, tooth enamel discoloration, bone formation violation (in children), and others.

Sumycin overdose

The overdose of the drug is manifested in the occurrence or intensification of some of the adverse reactions described above. The treatment implies the measures to cope with the symptoms.

Sumycin interactions

When you buy generic Tetracycline, make sure to check with your healthcare provider that you don’t take any medications this antibiotic can negatively interact with:
- The use of the antibiotic along with antacids can contribute to its lower bioavailability. If you use any medicines to lower the stomach acidity, make sure the interval between their use and the use of tetracycline is 1-3 hours.
- The medication is not advised to be taken at the same time as iron-containing medications as they can mutually lower the absorption of each other.
- In the same-time use of Sumycin with Digoxin or lithium, their concentration in the blood can be lifted and the likelihood of adverse effects higher.
- The risk of poisoning with ergot alkaloids is increased in the concurrent use of tetracycline and any medicines based on ergot.
- The toxicity of Methotrexate can be raised if it is combined with tetracycline.
- The formulation must not be used as the same time a vaccine against typhus is made as this can lower the effect of the latter.
- The antibiotic must not be used with penicilins, cephalosporins, and other antibiotics with bactericidal effect as they mutually suppress the effects of each other.
- Retinoids used with tetracycline can cause increased intracranial pressure so their use must not be combined.
- The use of the antibiotic with cholestyramine interferes with the absorption of the latter.
- The antibiotic can lower the efficiency of oral birth control so barrier contraception must be also used to avoid pregnancy.
- The medication must be cautiously used with diuretics (water pills), diabetes medications, indirect anticoagulants, painkillers, and other medicines that negatively affect the liver.

Please note that these are not all interactions. If you take any medications, talk with your healthcare provider about the safety of their use with Sumycin.

Sumycin precautions

You should follow these precautionary measures when you order Sumycin to prevent the damage to your health:
- The kidney dysfunction of any severity can cause the accumulation of the drug in the blood and the development of adverse effects.
- In the long-term therapy with the drug, the periodical tests of the blood and functional tests of the liver and kidneys must be made.
- During the therapy with Sumycin sun exposure must be avoided.
- The long-term use of the medication can cause the development of superinfection cause by the resistant organisms; in this case, adequate therapy against them must be initiated.
- The medication can cause to irreversible tooth enamel color change in children under the age of 12.
- The use of the medication can contribute to lupus aggravation.
- Diarrhea caused by the therapy with the medication can be a sign of colitis so in the occurrence of this adverse effect patients must inform their doctors immediately.
- The medication must not be used with any dairy products as they interfere with its absorption.
- To avoid the irritation of the esophagus, the medication should be taken standing up or sitting and washed down with a sufficient amount of water. The intervals between the dosages must be equal. If the dosage is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered but skipped if it’s already time for the next dosage.
- In the occurrence of any hypersensitivity reactions, i.e. skin rash, the treatment must be immediately canceled.
- As a prophylaxis of potential treatment complications, it is highly advised to use hepatoprotectors (liver protecting meds), choleretic agents, eubiotics (probiotics), vitamins, and antifungal agents.
