Protonix and the generic versions of the medication lower the acidity of gastric juice and also have antibacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori and can be used to treat stomach ulcers caused by the bacteria. The therapeutic effect after a single dose occurs quickly and lasts for 24 hours.
It provides a rapid reduction in symptoms and healing of duodenal ulcers.
When taken at a dose of 40 mg, the protective effect lasts for more than 19 hours.
After 2 weeks of treatment, complete healing of the duodenal ulcer is observed in 89% of patients. After 4 weeks of treatment, 88% of patients have complete healing of the gastric ulcer. The recurrence rate of peptic ulcer after treatment is 55%.
Within 4 weeks of treatment, it provides complete remission in 82% of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), after 8 weeks - in 92%. Complete endoscopic remission in 57% of children aged 6–13 years with gastroesophageal reflux disease is observed after a month of therapy at a dose of 20 mg/day.

Dosage and administration
Here you can find the general recommendations that you can follow when you buy Pantoprazole online but we highly advise you to get a proper diagnosis and consultation of a specialist first.
- GERD: the dose for children over 12 years of age and adults is one 40 mg pill 1 time per day. In some cases, the dose can be doubled (2 tablets per day), especially in the absence of the effect of the use of other drugs.
- In stomach and duodenal ulcer and with a positive result on Helicobacter pylori, microorganism eradication must be achieved using combination therapy. The medication is taken in the dosage of 40 mg per day along with prescribed antibiotics.
- In stomach or duodenum ulcer without the Helicobacter pylori, the dosage dose is one 40 mg pill 1 time per day. In some cases, the dose can be doubled (2 tablets per day).
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions with enhanced gastric juice production: the initial daily dose is 80 mg (2 tablets). If necessary, after this, the dose can be raised or lowered depending on the indicators of acid secretion. At doses exceeding 80 mg per day, it must be divided into two intakes. A temporary increase in dose over 160 mg is possible, but the duration of use should be limited only by the period necessary for adequate control of acid secretion.
For patients with severely impaired liver function, the dose can be reduced to 1 tablet once every two days. In addition, these patients need to monitor the level of liver enzymes. If their treatment with Pantoprazole is increased, it should be discontinued.
Senior individuals and individuals with impaired renal function are not advised to exceed a daily dose of 40 mg of pantoprazole. An exception is combination therapy, the purpose of which is to eradicate Helicobacter pylori, when elderly patients should receive the usual daily dose of pantoprazole (1 tablet 2 times a day) for 1 week.

Interactions with other medicines
Before you buy generic Pantoprazole, make sure to check with your doctor that you don’t take any medicines it is incompatible with:
- Like medicines from the class, the medication is contraindicated to be used with atazanavir.
- Pantoprazole may decrease the absorption of medicines whose bioavailability is pH-dependent (e.g., ketoconazole).
- The medication is metabolized in the liver with the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Theoretically, it can interact with other medicines that are metabolized through this system such as caffeine, diazepam, diclofenac, ethanol, fenprocoumone, phenytoin, piroxicam, Theophylline, warfarin, and others.
Consult your healthcare provider about the precautions if you take any of such medicines.
Special recommendations
- Pantoprazole is not intended for the treatment of moderate gastrointestinal disorders (dyspepsia).
- In the presence of alarming symptoms (sudden weight loss, vomiting, dysplasia, vomiting with blood, anemia, ground), in the presence of a stomach ulcer, malignant diseases of the esophagus and stomach should be excluded, since treatment can cover the symptoms and delay the establishment of a correct diagnosis.
- The diagnosis of reflux disease should be confirmed endoscopically.
- In senior individuals with poor renal function, it is not advised to exceed a dose of 40 mg /day. In severe liver failure, the dosage regimen must be adjusted - 1 tablet every second day, under the control of the level of liver enzymes (if it increases, the drug should be stopped immediately).
- The drug contains lactose, so individuals with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not use the drug.
